Goldschmidt, Victor Moritz
(1888-1947)
   Norwegian mineralogist. Born in Zurich, he studied at Heidelberg and at the University of Christiania. He was an instructor at the University of Christiania, and became a professor at the Mineralogical Institute. Later he taught at the University of Gottingen, but resigned his chair as a result of Nazi policy. During World War II he escaped to Sweden and then to England where he joined the staff at the Macaulay Institute of Soil Research in Aberdeen.
